THE OLD RUGGED CROSS

1.   在遠山聳立著古老的十字架

作為羞辱痛苦標誌 我愛這十字架

因主離榮耀家 來在上面替人受死

1. On a hill far away Stood an old rugged cross,

The emblem of suff’ring and shame;

And I love that old cross Where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners slain.

我俯伏主腳前 我堅持古老的十字架

等有天 我將它換冠冕

*So I’ll cherish the old rug-ged cross,

Till my trophies at last I lay down;

I will cling to the old rug-ged cross,

And ex-changed it some day for a crown.

2.古老的十字架 不少人很輕視

對我卻有奇妙吸力 神聖潔的羔羊

曾降臨到此世 將它背至髑髏死地

2. Oh, that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;

For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above

To bear it to dark Calvary.

3.古老的十字架 染班班的血跡

從我眼光何等可悅 就在這十字架

主受苦到至極 為要賜我赦免聖潔

3. In the old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see;

For ‘twas on that old cross, Jesus suffered and died
To pardon and sanctify me.

4.我永遠要效忠 古老的十字架

歡喜受它所受譏誚 有一天主召我

歸回到祂的家 永遠享受祂的榮耀

4. To the old rugged cross, I will ever be true,

Its shame and reproach gladly bear;

Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away,

Where His glory forever I’ll share.
